Kaduna Ginger Farmers Begin to Recover

Kaduna Ginger Project Revives Production After Blight Setbacks

Ginger farmers in Kaduna State are reporting improvements in production following interventions under the Kaduna Ginger Project, an initiative designed in part to eliminate child labour while improving farming practices.

Farmers said the programme has helped revive ginger production after years of losses associated with ginger blight, one of the major challenges that has affected the state’s ginger industry.

The initiative is also supporting improvements in farming practices and livelihoods while promoting safer and more sustainable agricultural systems.

Kaduna is one of Nigeria’s important ginger-producing areas, making the recovery of production significant for farmers, processors and traders operating across the value chain.

Farmers are now calling for the expansion of the project to reach more communities and strengthen the gains recorded so far.
